Te Omanga Hospice

By Paul Johnson | 22 August 2019

At Bolton Hotel, we're currently carrying out an exciting programme of refurbishment, with two floors currently renovated with more to be completed in 2020.

With plush new carpets, refreshed wall coverings, new lighting and furniture, we're incredibly proud of our new rooms. Though with any refurbishment, the question of what becomes of the displaced furniture is always raised.

We're fortunate that our fixtures and fittings have stood the test of time having originally purchased particularly high-quality furniture when the hotel first opened. With a selection of tables, chairs, sofas and lights, all in excellent condition, we're thrilled to announce they will receive a new lease of life with Te Omanga Hospice.

Our Building Services Manager, William Angus, has delivered our first shipment of furniture to the hospice which will soon be finding their way into the hospice's shops in Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt and Petone.

Te Omanga Hospice, a charitable trust, has provided quality Palliative Care services free of charge to the local Hutt Valley community since 1979. Their team of specialist doctors, nurses, therapists and specially trained volunteers provide much-needed support to those with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, all through the support of generous individuals, families and businesses.

We're so happy that our contribution will not only support the hospice but also the environment, with quality furniture spared from landfill. We look forward to donating more furniture to the deserving charity in the new year.

UPDATE: Over 90% of our donated furniture has already been sold!
