Rita Angus (1908-70) is one of New Zealand’s most significant, loved and respected artists. Her landscapes and portraits successfully combined the sense of New Zealand with the artistic movements of Europe and North America, yet succeeded in forging a distinct style of her own.
The eldest of seven siblings, each remarkable in their own right, Rita forged a career as an artist with an unwavering, pioneering and uncompromising approach to her artistic vision with support from her forward-thinking family.
