Surrealist Art at Te Papa

By Paul Johnson | 1 June 2021
The largest Surrealist art exhibition in New Zealand
12 June - 31 October 2021
Works by Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington, René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp can be found at Wellington's Te Papa in this exclusive exhibition.

Te Papa is the only venue in Asia Pacific to show the exhibition, the largest exhibition of the influential artistic movement ever to be shown in Aotearoa.

Surrealism first appeared in 1924 with the Manifesto of Surrealism by Andre Breton. Its ideas and philosophy quickly spread across the globe and touched on art, design, literature and film, aiming to shock, delight and surprise.
